OpenNotes Web Team

Jason Fairchild, Jill Delbanco, Grace Ludmer, Kapil Kachru, Rossana Fazzina, Chip Sheppard

Jason Fairchild
Jason is a collage artist and graphic designer based in Boston. He has been involved in the print industry for almost 30 years before transitioning from a traditional layout to desktop publishing tools in the early 90s. He teaches Print Production for Graphic Designers at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and Introduction to Computer Design with the Adobe Creative Cloud at MassArt. He is currently the Creative Director of Truesdale Group / Recycled Paper Printing, Inc. and has been a graphic designer for over 20 years – working almost exclusively with non-profits and cause-related organizations.

Jill Delbanco, MA
Jill is an artist and educator, active in theatre, poetry, music and the visual arts. She helped found Learning through Drama, using theatre to teach curriculum, led diverse groups of young people in creating all-original musical theatre, and has raised money through the arts to support health care for the underserved. Jill helped design the logos for both OpenNotes and PatientSite, the BIDMC patient portal. As a member of the OpenNotes graphics, writing, and editing team, she joins in developing the form and content of the OpenNotes website and associated material.

Grace Ludmer, graduate student at Columbia University
Grace is an artist who loves to draw and experiment with different art materials and mediums. She graduated from the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration and Community Art Engagement. For the past two years, Grace has served as an AmeriCorps member in Providence, teaching and developing art curriculum in schools.

Kapil Kachru, MA
Kapil is a copywriter and creative director based in Boston. Since 2010, he has teamed up with artists, advertising agencies, branding firms, design studios, film production slash post-production companies, and clients directly in Amsterdam, Auckland, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Munich, New York, and Portland. His clients have included Porsche, BMW Group, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Old Spice, Progressive, Siemens, Fujitsu and the New England Journal of Medicine. His work has been recognized by the Clio awards, Graphis, Webbys, New York Festivals and the American Institute of Graphic Arts, amongst others.

Rossana Fazzina, MS
Rossana is a Communications Project Manager with OpenNotes. She grew up in northern Italy in the city of Turin. Her fascination for science drew her to the University of Turin where she earned an undergraduate and master’s degree in Healthcare Biotechnology. She went on to earn a second master’s degree in Healthcare Management, Economics, and Policy at SDA Bocconi University in Milan. Rossana was born with a vascular anomaly she’s been managing all her life, and she’s seen more doctors and hospitals that she can remember. Rossana credits this experience with her desire to work for a hospital. In the summer of 2013, she moved from Italy to San Francisco where she took a position at the University of California conducting healthcare quality improvement research and managing performance improvement initiatives. The following year, she relocated to Boston to join the OpenNotes team where she’s able to indulge her scientific interests, which include a strong focus on patient engagement and fostering a culture of health, creativity, and innovation. As Rossana has continued to manage her health, it’s become clear to her that if she had access to OpenNotes growing up, the world would be a very different place now. She uses her notes constantly; to check-in with specialists or read what the nurse practitioner had shared with her primary care doctor.

Chip Sheppard
Chip has been creating websites professionally since 1996. After experiencing the internet “bubble” and its consequent burst first hand, Chip became a freelance web developer and consultant in 2001.
