Paola Miralles

Administrative Director

Paola serves as the Administrative Director at OpenNotes in the Division of General Medicine and Primary Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  She joins our team from the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) where she focused on multifaceted, interdisciplinary efforts and programs to support the advancement and build community among students, trainees, and faculty who are underrepresented in medicine.

Prior to this, Paola worked at MGH’s Institute for Health Policy (now the Mongan Institute Health Policy Center) where she met our Executive Director.  Cait happily exclaimed “I just hired a chef [cook]!” to colleagues after interviewing her almost ten years ago.  With a BS in nutrition and a culinary degree, transitioning from the culinary world into healthcare felt natural to Paola.  She has always lived life broadly, deeply, and across sectors.

Paola has roots in Argentina and Houston, but has found a home in Boston for the last ten years.  As a student of meditation, she explores her mind and her humanity through contemplative practices.  She also deeply believes in the power of mentorship and community.  On the side, she likes to dabble with charcoal and paint.  Paola describes her 94 year old abuela, Edi Adela, as one of her soulmates, and is one of her abuela’s primary care partners from almost 2000 miles away.  Paola dreams of the day when all care partners can access open notes in order to help provide the best care possible for their loved ones.
