On February 10, 2017, NYC Health + Hospitals began sharing outpatient visit notes with patients through our secure patient portal, MyChart. OpenNotes is currently available in primary care and specialty care clinics at Elmhurst, Queens, and Coney Island Hospital but will be implemented system-wide by 2020. NYC Health + Hospitals’ top priority is to improve the patient experience and we believe making notes transparent will empower our patients to better manage their care.
As background, NYC Health + Hospitals is the largest public health care system in the United States with: over 40,000 employees, 11 hospitals, 5 long-term care facilities, 6 diagnostic and treatment centers and over 70 ambulatory care centers and extension clinics.
