Kate is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and a primary care physician at Massachusetts General Hospital. She and Anita Vanka developed the OpenNotes initiative focusing on teaching medical students at HMS how to maximize open and transparent communication as they learn clinical medicine. For three years, Dr. Johnston served as the Co-Director of the Practice Of Medicine Course at HMS. She is currently an Associate Site Director for the HMS Core I Medicine Clerkship.
